Episode Information Meli's Nitpicks

Plot Holes

  • Programming a zatarc only requires "moments" of access? Wouldn't you expect a lot more of them then?

  • If it's so hard to detect a zatarc, how can Anise be so sure they've only been a problem for two months?

  • Why didn't anyone have a zat or tranquilizer gun in the room when they were trying to fix Lieutenant Astor?

  • No one thought of Martouf?

  • This is the big one. What, none of the scientists there know anything about sensitivity and specificity of a test? (Ahem — ever heard of a false positive?) You'd think they'd be at least a little skeptical, considering that regular lie detector tests (which the zatarc detector is most like) are still not admissible in courts in the U.S. As Sam so eloquently put it at one point, "It's all based on assumptions, isn't it?"

Series Inconsistencies

  • We hear for the first time confirmation that SG team members undergo regular psychological evaluations.

  • We now have at least fifteen SG units (first reference to SG-15).

Unanswered Questions

  • Where is High Counselor Garshaw? How does her position related to that of Per'sus (Supreme High Counselor)?

  • How exactly does the detector tell real from false memories?

  • I couldn't quite tell what type of Jaffa was in Lieutenant Astor's flashback (possibly a Horus guard?). Which Goa'uld was sending out the zatarcs?

  • When did Jack do the "strapped to the bed" thing? Is this at all related to his comment to Daniel in "Need"?

  • When did Daniel find out about Jack and Sam's revelation?

  • Did Anise/Freya solve the problem thanks to Martouf?
